Life at Mediaedge
Seems like it has been a while since an entry has been entered. So here goes…
So far, life at Mediaedge has been good, other then the freezing cold air-conditioning, all is well. I must say that this internship has been really an eye opener for me. What have I learnt? At least now I know what a media agency is and does.
When a company wants to market their product, they will hire a creative agency to create an advert for them. Once it’s done, the company will pass the advert to a media agency (MEC), so as to allow their ads to be place in different Medias for maximum viewer-ship. Well, no company can afford to put their ads in all the media, so thus that’s where media agencies come into play. Get it?
Remember my boss Rosemary, the lady whom I commented that looks like Chinese? She is in fact one! Born in HK, but brought up in Canada. Anyway, her department (which currently only consists of her and myself), is in charge of digital/interactive media marketing. In other words, marketing on the internet, search engine marketing (SEM) etc. So far, though what I have been doing is nothing really fancy, just searching the net for competitor online marketing movement and data entry, however the exposure to the media industry is really mind blowing and refreshing. She also put me through this training course by double-click.
Double-click is another agency hired by MEC. Their job is to track the ads that we place on the net, such as clicks and impressions etc, so that we know how well the adverts are performing on the sites. Also, ads tracked by double-click also has the ability to change the ads on the site to suit the users. Cool eh!
That’s all for now. Nothing more to comment about my job. Did I ever mention about the funky office? Let me try and get some pics if I can. ;)
Next time!
