Lake house

It’s a romance flick with Keanu Reeves looking incredibly charming at 41. For synopsis of the show, visit the site at http://thelakehousemovie.warnerbros.com/.

What makes this show unique? The plot where time is the foundation that it is built upon. Though it is purely fantasy, think about it. So near, yet so far. Tragic. Also, the soundtracks compose by Rachel Portman fits the show perfectly well. The Lake House itself is a beauty of its own, just gorgeous. Last but not least, there is always Keanu Reeves to look out for.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show till the end. Shall not be a spoiler, but I will have preferred the original Korean version ending. Probably the directors didn’t want to break the hearts of all Keanu fans. *Ops*

Initially, I wanted to get the soundtrack. But after watching the show, I felt that by listening to the soundtracks without the plot unfolding before me is relatively incomplete, so guess not.

Vinnie’s verdict: 7/10 (slightly bias, as I will prefer the Korean ending)

It’s a must watch for all Keanu Reeve fans and a good flick for those who is in the mood for fantasy romance.

Enjoy!

What's going on....?

What is the worst thing about learning a beautiful song? Nothing, except when you are not going to present it. ‘The ways of God’, is the piece that the choir will be presenting on Reformation Sunday, 30 Oct. It’s simple, lovely and just simply catchy.

Where will I be on 30 Oct? On an island, being barked at.

Suddenly going for choir practice seems to be an irony. Other then the hymn presentation in August, I just simply see no reason to attend. I can’t present on the 30th and Christmas is doubtful. Well, I don’t even know if I can still attend practices after I enlist.

This feeling really sucks. Putting in effort, trying to sing the piece well, yet at the end of it, I know I am not even going to present it. Isaac asked why I am learning it. For a spilt second, I didn’t know what to say. So I simply laughed it off.

Yea, why am I learning it? Why put in the effort to even attend the practices after August? It is only service to God when you present it and let it be a blessing to the congregation.

Well, my birthday is round the corner, and for some reason or another, I just don’t seem to be the least excited about it. I don’t even know what I want for my birthday. What is going on with me? I wonder. Right now, out of the blue I guess almost everything seems to have lost its appeal.

Everything seems to be so fake. People included. Am I going insane? Maybe I am suffering from depression after all. I guess my problem is I think too much. Too much nonsensical thoughts, throwing myself into a state of delusion.

Am I back sliding? I know I am not, probably just a spiritual low.

(Listening to Fort Minor’s Where’d you go while typing this. Strange, how I told Esther that I didn’t really like this song, but ends up it’s the only song that I want to listen to now.)

Life at Mediaedge

Seems like it has been a while since an entry has been entered. So here goes…

So far, life at Mediaedge has been good, other then the freezing cold air-conditioning, all is well. I must say that this internship has been really an eye opener for me. What have I learnt? At least now I know what a media agency is and does.

When a company wants to market their product, they will hire a creative agency to create an advert for them. Once it’s done, the company will pass the advert to a media agency (MEC), so as to allow their ads to be place in different Medias for maximum viewer-ship. Well, no company can afford to put their ads in all the media, so thus that’s where media agencies come into play. Get it?

Remember my boss Rosemary, the lady whom I commented that looks like Chinese? She is in fact one! Born in HK, but brought up in Canada. Anyway, her department (which currently only consists of her and myself), is in charge of digital/interactive media marketing. In other words, marketing on the internet, search engine marketing (SEM) etc. So far, though what I have been doing is nothing really fancy, just searching the net for competitor online marketing movement and data entry, however the exposure to the media industry is really mind blowing and refreshing. She also put me through this training course by double-click.

Double-click is another agency hired by MEC. Their job is to track the ads that we place on the net, such as clicks and impressions etc, so that we know how well the adverts are performing on the sites. Also, ads tracked by double-click also has the ability to change the ads on the site to suit the users. Cool eh!

That’s all for now. Nothing more to comment about my job. Did I ever mention about the funky office? Let me try and get some pics if I can. ;)

Next time!

Mediaedge

Finally, after 5 and the half days of fever, it has finally left me. Thank God for Esther. She forwarded my resume to her boss at Mediaedge where she is interning and they got back to me, fixed me up with an interview too. The interview was really a joke. Dear Esther emailed me, asking me to dress smart with a tie etc, and the best part is, she told me to bring a suit along, put it on my hand when I meet my interviewer. So I did. My interviewer, now my boss, is Rosemary. Initially when I was on the phone with her, she sounded like some old ‘ang-moh’ woman. She turned out to be a middle age woman, look Chinese. She carries herself in a pretty flawless manner, so I guess it’s quite hard to not like her.

So it’s goodbye Nestle and hello Mediaedge.

Mediaedge, some sort of an advertising company. Me, coming from an engineering background, what do I know about media or advertising? Absolutely nothing. Esther told me to read up on recent developments on interactive media. That was challenging enough. But thank God, the interview was very smooth and today it’s my 2nd day interning at Mediaedge till mid-Oct, while most of my friends enlist tomorrow. Oh well.

Vienna Boys are coming to town!! Again. 7-8th Oct. I am so going to catch it. But the tickets are kinda expensive. So guess it is time to start saving up…
